ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR
“BAREFOOT IN THE PARK”
By Neil Simon
Directed by Patrick T. Rogers
Produced by Dean and Cathy Johnson
Assistant Directed by Kimberly Demmary
Costume Design by Erin Heulitt
Set in New York in the early 1960s, Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park is a romantic comedy focusing on newlyweds, Paul and Corie Bratter as they begin married life in a tiny fifth floor (six if you count the stoop) walkup brownstone. Paul is a straight-laced attorney and Corie’s a free spirit always looking for the next adventure. They contend with a lack of heat, a hole in the skylight, MANY exhausting flights of stairs, wacky neighbors – including their “neighbor in the attic” Victor Velasco, Corie’s well-meaning and over protective mother, as well as, their own personal struggles as they approach life’s challenges as a married couple.
Auditions will take place at Camarillo Skyway Playhouse June 23-25 at 7 PM, with callbacks by invite only on June 26 at 7 PM. Please bring a headshot/resume along with any potential conflicts. Auditions and callbacks will consist of readings from the script; sides will be made available on our website starting in June. This is a NON-UNION, NON-PAYING production. Performances are August 16 – September 15, 2019, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Any questions can be sent to the director, Patrick T. Rogers, at PTRogers_Theatre@yahoo.com.
CORIE BRATTER (female; to play 20-25; Caucasian) Paul’s wife; a newlywed – married only six days. Young, pretty, and full of hope and excitement for the future. She is impulsive and fun loving. Considers herself a doer, not a watcher.
PAUL BRATTER (male; to play 25-30; Caucasian passing) Corie’s husband; a newlywed and a new attorney on his first job. Very conservative, proper and dignified. Levelheaded and practical – he keeps his emotions in check, maybe a little too much.
HARRY PEPPER (TELEPHONE MAN) (male; 45-60+; any ethnicity) A good humored, kind man who makes observations on every day life and relationships as he installs and repairs telephones.
DELIVERY MAN (male; 60+; any ethnicity) An elderly delivery man for Lord and Taylor Department Store. Appears in one scene. Limited rehearsal time. Comedic cameo role.
***PLEASE NOTE: The roles of ETHEL BANKS and VICTOR VELASCO have been cast.***
